Liz Moughon is a cinematographer and filmmaker at ProPublica where she works to translate deep-dive investigations into evocative visual storytelling. She is motivated to create imagery that captures the ineffable. She was the director of photography on ProPublica’s first in-house feature documentary film, Before a Breath, which will be released in 2025.
With a background in photojournalism, she has also been featured in The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle and NPR and received recognition from the Northern California Emmys, Pictures of the Year International, White House News Photographers Association and NPPA Best of Photojournalism. She is an alum of Ohio University and the Danish School of Media and Journalism and is a FAA certified drone operator.
